Meet the Coaches 

Our coaches are all highly qualified Occupational Psychologists with wide reaching experience in delivering developmental coaching programmes. PCL’s coaches have particular expertise in assessing leadership derailment, encompassing in-depth individual assessments, developing Emotional Intelligence, assessing an individual’s propensity for risk, consulting on the management of extreme personality characteristics for both individual / team development and designing up-to-date evidence based assessment tools. PCL has a long standing relationship with Hogan Assessments, having distributed and trained a broad client base in the Hogan suite for over 25 years as well as extensive knowledge of Emotional Intelligence training using the EQ-i tools. Alongside this, our leading Business Psychologists have developed our own portfolio of highly regarded psychometric assessments, based on considerable research and testing. Our considerable knowledge on the use of these assessments and our unique position of having this wide range of personality tools readily available within our portfolio, enable us to coach from a 360 degree angle. Using the results of the chosen assessments, we can identify the individual’s strengths and weaknesses in an objective manner and build across the full spectrum, from Emotional Intelligence to self-awareness to risk propensity and attitudes towards decision making.

The Risk Type Compass tool can also be beneficial for team coaching, as understanding your own and your colleagues risk personality creates a shared language and mutual understanding that we all have a unique approach to risk taking.

Our Approach

Using these assessment tools and our considerable expertise in developmental training, we’re pleased to offer the below three coaching packages. Please click below each image for more information. 

Level 1 coaching
LEVEL ONE: BUILDING STRATEGIC SELF-AWARENESS

LEVEL 1: Building Strategic Self-Awareness. 

Suitable for any level employee wanting to work on their self-awareness to improve their relationship with their team/clients.

SCENARIO EXAMPLE: Kate is a Finance Manager with a team of six. Kate knows her role well on paper but is struggling to build effective relations with her team and conflict often arises. Kate has a low level of self-awareness and doesn’t understand the impact of her actions on others, and therefore why her team may react negatively. 

HOW WE HELP: Having an increased level of self-awareness will help Kate evaluate who she is as an individual and allow her to understand how she can communicate and connect more effectively with her team.

As part of this package, individuals complete their chosen personality questionnaires suitable for their level of seniority. Following this, the client will receive a 90-minute feedback session with a qualified Consultant Psychologist. This session can either be conducted face-to-face, via telephone or via Zoom, depending on location and timing.

OUTCOME: The overall objective of this session is to increase self-awareness, highlight strengths and identify blind-spots, and create take-away developmental suggestions and implementation plans for the individual, in order to improve effectiveness and enhance performance.

LEVEL TWO: BUILDING RESILIENCE & WELLBEING
LEVEL 2: Business Coaching Packages. Option 1: Building Resilience and Wellbeing.  

Suitable for mid-managerial to C-Suite individuals looking to increase either their own Emotional Intelligence or complete the training as a team exercise in order to build a more cohesive team. 

SCENARIO EXAMPLE: Kate is a Head of Department at a Financial Services company. The company has been through rapid change where uncertainty has led to a demotivated and unproductive team. Kate wants to ensure she best understands the needs of her team to support effective communication and thus boost motivation. 

HOW WE HELP: Our most comprehensive coaching packages include five or ten 90-minute coaching sessions. The initial session often includes an individual’s line manager, in order to set goals and ensure alignment between organisational and individual goals.

TOOLS: EQ-i 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment 

  • Increase authenticity by understanding your internal mental processes
  • Enhance confidence and psychological safety within the team by better expressing yourself
  • Build up mutually supportive relationships and develop the ability to build trust and collaborate successfully with others
  • Understand and appreciate how emotions help you and how they work in harmony with rational thinking
  • Build up effective coping skills and resilience to adapt to the changing nature of work

OUTCOME: Although highly flexible and adaptable to the needs of each individual, the end target of our Developmental Coaching is always the same: to enhance self-awareness, to help an individual be comfortable with aspects of their personality that may need active management and to put together a bespoke action plan to increase effectiveness. Ultimately, this process of self-knowledge will result in a motivated and well-balanced individual who is more empowered and able to effectively deliver business goals.

LEVEL TWO : TRANSITIONING TO A LEADER

LEVEL 2: Business Coaching Packages. Option 2: Transitioning to a Leader / Creating and Managing a High Perfoming Team. 

Particularly suited to C-Suite leadership who have recently transitioned into their role or work in an organisation undergoing huge change.

SCENARIO EXAMPLE: Kate has recently been promoted from Head of Department to Managing Director at a Financial Services company. Kate wants to ensure a smooth transition into the role and build upon her natural strengths as a leader without triggering counterproductive behaviours from her team. 

HOW WE HELP: Our most comprehensive coaching packages include five or ten 90-minute coaching sessions. The initial session often includes an individual’s line manager, in order to set goals and ensure alignment between organisational and individual goals.

Hogan Suite, Hogan Developmental Survey, Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory. 

  • Highlight the potential discrepancies between the two “spotlights”: how you see yourself and how your team perceive these behaviours
  • Enhance understanding and control of situations that may trigger counterproductive behaviour in the workplace
  • Determine how you can adapt your approach and successfully manage your own reputation
  • Increase leadership effectiveness by building on your natural strengths without the risk of overplaying them.
